Yeah, I Voted For Hillary Clinton Today, But #ImWithHer Forever

In the 11 months since my daughter, The Feminist Octopus, decided to arrive on Earth, she’s served as my ultimate trump card. Any difficult decision I’ve wrestled with — career-based or socially; economically or spiritually — comes back to her and her future. How will it impact her life today, tomorrow, and (most importantly) 10 years from now? And this has made many hard choices quite easy.

Of course, my decision on who to vote for today was not a difficult one. I had no consternation; no crisis of conscience. A competent and supremely over-qualified woman I’m not in love with or Darth Cheeto, The World’s Rapiest Vat Of Cheese Whiz. But if this were a tough choice for me, I would have just asked myself which candidate I’d prefer to lead the same country my daughter happens to be a citizen of. Who would I rather her look up to and eventually write book reports on? And if she desires to be President one day, which person would make my daughter’s dreams more realistic? Whose shoes would she have an easier time imagining herself filling?

Still, regardless of what happens today, my choice — who I’m supporting, who I’m endorsing, who I’m working for, who I’ll advocate for, who I favor, who I’m willing to kill and die for, who I’m with — is clear.

  • KMN

I hope HRC wins for the sake of your BEAUTIFUL baby girl…I had my MiniMe in 08 and cried cradling her when Obama won…I hope that HRC does what she needs to and is supposed to do for women…
I feel you on that hashtag though…im 1000% about #imwithher my minime being her of course
    Great post

    • brothaskeeper

Your daughter will have always known that there was a Black president, followed by a woman president. That’s a beautiful thing!

      • KMN

Isn’t it though?! I swear we BOTH need this

        • House of Cards

          Black president? Sure.

Followed by the first female one in U.S. history? Yeah, no.

But you’ll be able to tell your children that with a lying warmongering Clinton out of the Oval Office, WW3 has been delayed for while. It could always happen under Trump’s leadership though. But he is willing to talk instead of bombing 24/7 and ousting state leaders that don’t comply to the White House’s bullying, like your boy Dronebama.

  • Tambra

Your daughter is beautiful, loving her fashion sense.

    • KMN

Listen I need that skirt and those sweater tights…she can give me that whole outfit…I’ll provide the scarf, jean jacket, Starbucks, and BasicBitchBecky (BBB) swag to finish pulling it off ROFL

      • Tambra

I am seeing “diva” with the snaps. I think I may need to consult her in a few for tips.

  • Elissa Malaikah

That is one gorgeous little girl!

  • SHE’S SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!

    • Tambra

QAT, she is beautiful. She looks high energy.

      • Aww thanks! Very high energy.

    • Kas

Is this the nose breaker? She’s gorgeous.

    • Brown Rose

I love her hair. She is too cute.

    • KMN

      Just beautiful!! That dress tho!

      • Tambra

These kids are slaying, and if they are anything like a very fashion forward cousin, who at age 2 started choosing her own clothes, you know that outfit was her doing.

      • Thank you! That her ballet dress.

        • KMN

My daughter took ballet too! They do them UP for those little performances. I wish she could’ve continued but with all the knee surgeries she’s been having she couldn’t…breaks my heart :( But tell Babay QAT to keep it going! :)

    • Numbah5

I love beautiful brown babies…look at us y’all…look at our future! *hearteyes*

    • thamonsta

What a a smile on that kid!

    • Tambra

QAT, thanks for sharing. I understand about not wanting to expose your child, especially seeing that we are at times invaded by trolls.

    • Lea Thrace

I so was not ready for this much adorableness today. Between Baby Champ and your lil darling, I am officially useless for the rest of the day.

    • PinkRose

Awwww I’m sad, I missed the pic!! And next to the elderly kids especially babies, are my favorite people in the ENTIRE world!!

  • brothaskeeper

What’s sad is that The Tangerine Fiend is now an inextricable part of history. All the textbooks published from this point forward will have at least a blurb about him, and he will be memorialized by lowbrows, lemmings, racists, misogynists, homophobes, and xenophobes for ages to come.

    • MsKeisha23

Inextricably embarrassing part of our history…

      • Mochasister

Really. I would have rather the Kardashians run for president over him. At least Kris knows how to make money and not lose it. No common sense or decency but she can hustle.

    • Tambra

You know what is sad that more 70 years after WWII that Germany is able to warn and people in the states who fought against Germany can not see what he brings http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/german-newspaper-warns-of-trumpocalypse_us_582199dae4b0e80b02cc6c1a

    • Tambra

So BK, are we going to see mini BKs?

    • Brown Rose

Hopefully, those who write the next pack of history books will look at how they elevated that cretin with shame and remorse and use him as a cautionary tale instead of as fodder to enliven racists.

    • KMN

I was just having a convo with a possible Hotep man about how do we tell the truth about African world history to our kids…and I was saying how layered it is within the school system and how we have to attack said layers but the biggest obstacle was kicking out the old white man regime of historians and installing researchers, writers, and historians of color to write about themselves and to have said books instituted within the school system…but with states like Texas and the lot set up the way they are ~sideye~

      • Betty’s Babygirl

The NJ Amistad The Commission requires:
Under legislation sponsored by Assemblymen William D. Payne and Craig A. Stanley, schools in the Garden State are moving to recognize the integral part African-Americans have played at every turn in this nation’s history. The Amistad Bill (A1301), which became law in 2002, calls on New Jersey schools to incorporate African-American history into their social studies curriculum. This legislation also created the Amistad Commission, a 23-member body charged with ensuring that African-American history, contributions and experiences are adequately taught in the state’s classrooms.
        http://www.nj.gov/education/amistad/

Whether it’s been successfully implemented depends on the county. school administration and those who are aware of the legislation. I am not aware of any other state that has this type of legislation on the books.

        • KMN

Thank you!!! It was a bad fucking night and I needed this so badly…I’m going to print this out and read it while I’m off recovering…

          • Betty’s Babygirl

You’re very welcome KMN. Knowledge is power and facts are our friends.
            Peace & Blessings

            • KMN

They really are…thank you so much :)

    • Phil GoBeGreat

Not true. He will be forgotten with the likes of Sarah Palin and others

      • -h.h.h.-

folks still know who George Wallace is though

        • Phil GoBeGreat

But he isnt in the major history books as a factor. When the ppl who voted in 64 die he will be forgotten.

      • brothaskeeper

        I pray.

      • Tambra

Somehow I do not think so. Sarah was a sideshow, he is the main show. A train wreck of a show but the main ‘attraction’.

        • Phil GoBeGreat

She hella wasnt a sideshow… she was the show in 2008. She shined brighter than McCain in almost every conceivable way.

          • Tambra

She was noticeable for the craziness she spouted and has not stopped spouting since then. No brilliant ideas.

  • Numbah5

You done good Champ! She’s so precious and looks like she has you wrapped around her finger :)

  • Adorable baby

  • Kas

    Too cute

    • Tambra

No. No new babies for you.

      • Kas

        Sigh

        • Tambra

Hugs hunny, that is all I can offer you.
