You might raise your eyebrows when you see this list. But when I listen to a voice, I don’t listen to the timber only,,,,but to the WHOLE package, mostly the emotional factor, I don’t care if a singer has a pretty voice as long as they get the message across and make me BELIEVE what they have to say.

When Billie Holiday sang “Strange Fruit”, you saw, felt and smelled the WHOLE scenery, thats what I want.

When Chaka wails, you get FAZED,,,,positively or negatively. Sometimes both, even. Thats what I want.

You know? You could be the brick faced motherfucker who possesse the curse to turn people into pillars of salt to las a lifetime,,,,,but If I can FEEL what comes out of your mouth through my fingers and deep into my chest, then you got me in your corner.

What about people like Paul Robeson and Marian Anderson?

I saw a really nice names but I’m surprised no one has mentioned Brandy or Musiq. Granted, these are my two favorite singers so I’m biased.

James Morrison is a beast.

I saw people mention Raheem Devaughn but how could you not mention the dude he rips off. . .er um, has influenced him? D’Angelo.
