What Do You Do If Your Uber Has A Donald Trump Bumper Sticker?

This was a question I asked myself Saturday night, as I noticed that the Uber coming to pick my wife and I up had a Trump/Pence bumper sticker on it. As many of you know, my feelings about Trump supporters are well-documented.

Bit of context: We were headed to a club to celebrate a friend’s post-wedding reception party, and caught the Uber because we both planned on drinking. Also, we were already two hours late to the party, and rushing.

Anyway, I see four realistic options here:

1.  Do absolutely nothing, and act as if you didn’t notice that the driver you hired is so pro-Trump that he wants his feelings about Trump to be the first thing you know about him.

2. Cancel the Uber, and call another one.

3. Accept the ride, and ask/confront the driver about his bumper sticker.

4. Accept the ride, act normal, and then give him a low rating. And cite the reason why.

(Also, you can do both #3 and #4, if ambitious.)

Anyway, what would you do?

I got liquor and entertainment in the crib. I would send my friends my best wishes return to my regularly scheduled bumming.

    • Mochasister

Lol! Got me over here laughing out loud in public!

  • I’mma go with cancel. Trump supporters are too willfully ignorant for me to trust them with my safety. It’s clear that they don’t even care about their OWN safety, so I don’t believe in your commitment to MINE. AND I’m black…tuh!

    • Mochasister

I’m with you. Standing on the corner like, “Go ‘head on.”

  • PinkRose

Watch it go by, it probably wouldn’t stop for a person of color.

    • NonyaB?

      LOL. Cold.

      • Francesssimonetti2

Google is paying 97$ per hour! Work for few hours and have longer with friends & family! !dz243f:
On tuesday I got a great new Land Rover Range Rover from having earned $8752 this last four weeks.. Its the most-financialy rewarding I’ve had.. It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don’t check it
        !dz243f:
        ??
        ??;?? http://GoogleFinancialJobsCash533TopSubGetPay$97Hour ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????::::::!dz243f:….,……..

    • Kenton Campbell

      Perfect.

    • Mochasister

Exactly. And if it I would not get in anyway. It would be like seeing someone with a swastika or a confederate flag on their car. When I see those things, I steer clear of those people.

  • Cara_LaNae

    # 2… You def gotta cancel. Can’t be too sure how (un)stable this person is and you don’t want to risk your life to find out.

  • Val

Cancel. There should be a price to pay for supporting a bigot.

    • wakakaja

Uber can charge you for cancelling though. Then it’s your price to pay. Tricky tricky…

      • Val

I’m no uber expert but I’m sure there’s a way to cancel without being charged.

        • blueevey

Cancel 5m before the ride gets there.

In this case, since the car was there, there would be a $5 cancelation fee. Of which, the driver gets 3.75 (depending on the commission uber takes, it’s different per city.)

          • MsSula

I would rather part with $5 than pay the full price to a bigot.

        • wakakaja

Unless you cancel immediately upon ordering one, if the car pulls up in front of you and you see that bumper sticker, then decide to cancel, you can get charged a ‘wasting their time’ fee of like, 5 bucks or so. You have to call and fight to say why and argue for a refund.

  • Leggy

I’d cancel and call another one and here’s why – you know that your uber drivers also get to rate you right? If they’re that supportive of trump, I’m sorry but they’re gonna rate you so low and if your uber rating gets to a certain number you get banned from uber. I’d personally cancel.

  • Hugh Akston

As a side Uber driver I would say cancel it and send another request you and your wife could send another one by then you’ll know who the driver is if he accepts the request

If it’s the same driver that accepts call your friend and say “I’ll take you to a good club next weekend but can’t make it tonight”

  • Didn’t a guy refuse to tow a woman that broke down because she had a Bernie sticker?

    • NonyaB?

Are you serious? *Sniggle* How do you get into your feelings about a dude who’s already lost, therefore, is no longer part of the convo?

      • brothaskeeper

Because it’s never over with a Bernie backer.

      • Easy apparently.
        **shrug**

    • Yes he did. It was during the primaries. The tow truck driver was a Trump backer who dislikes anyone he thinks of as left-wing. He said God told him not to provide service. He told the woman, who was apparently handicapped, to call the government for a tow.

      • LMNOP

This would be bad enough if she wasn’t handicapped. God told you to leave a disabled person in a broke down car by the side of the road? Right… that sounds like something God would say…

        • Digital_Underground

Someone needs to tell God he has some terrible representatives.

      • Buster Cannon

“God told me” = “I’m using God as a scapegoat for my personal feelings and biases”.

        Ugh..

        • Tambra

Didn’t you get the memo that Trump is born again?

  • QueenRaven23

I’ve used Uber twice and wasn’t the one doing the calling/booking. I have a question: if you cancel, do you have to give a reason why?

    • brothaskeeper

      No.

    • Hugh Akston

Not really but if the driver arrives and you cancel then you’ll be charged a fee

      • Exactly.

      • A strongly worded email they’ll give it back

        • Hugh Akston

          For a few bucks though?

          I guess lol

  • Buster Cannon

Eh, as long as they drive safely and aren’t bashing me over the head with political talk, I don’t really care.
