VSB + Friends Podcast Ep. 1: Drake Is Not Dadsafe

It’s been a long time, we shouldn’t have left you. So we came back. Damon and I bring you the reboot of our old VSB Podcast, renamed VSB + Friends. Check out our first episode, currently available on SoundCloud (as we wait for the iTunes link to go up) where we talk about pitching to VSB, Snapchat, Drake, life, and Obama endorsing Hillary Clinton.

It also includes the opening intro from the former VSB podcast series as an homage and throwback. There will be new theme music! Because theme music!

So check out us out here and follow us on Soundcloud and then up us on iTunes when we’re available. We’ll eventually get up on Stitcher and TuneIn and other platforms but we’re lazy.

Panama Jackson

Panama Jackson is pretty fly (and gorgeous) for a light guy. He used to ship his frito to Tito in the District, but shipping prices increased so he moved there to save money. He refuses to eat cocaine chicken. When he's not saving humanity with his words or making music with his mouth, you can find him at your mama's mama's house drinking her fine liquors. Most importantly, he believes the children are our future. You can hit him on his hitter at panamadjackson@gmail.com.

I’m downloading it now. This will be perfect for my flight tomorrow, or later tonight actually. (Time zone issues)

  • A.G.

Yay!!!! This will get me through the workday! Thanks y’all!

    • panamajackson

      You’re welcome. Hope you enjoy.

      • A.G.

Do you know when “Conversate with P” will begin?

        • panamajackson

I haven’t recorded that first one yet. But it’s coming soon.

  • Animate

    *COUGH* Google Play.

    • panamajackson

      That too.

      • Gbadebo

        oh sh*t. Live.

  • Epsilonicus

If you need a politics junkie on the podcast, holla at ya boy lol

    • Other_guy13

Or a movie reviewer…cuz I live at AMC now…let a ninja know lol

      • Tee

and Planet Fitness. I just won’t let that go.

        • Other_guy13

La Fitness and I did…phone chex in public places will never be the move…or are you talking about that OTHER thing?

          • Tee

I stand corrected. You telling on yourself so much tho. I’m talking about the OTHER thing lol lol

            • Other_guy13

              Oh…well… I thought we we’re in that level…. I stand corrected.

  • IwanttobeaRizpah

Who is singing they need vocal lessons.

    • panamajackson

That would be me. and vocalize deez.

      • IwanttobeaRizpah

        I thought as much!!!!!!!!!!! Why?!?!?!???

        • panamajackson

the better question is why not?

        • I mean, it does kinda sound like it was written by 50 Tyson…

  • Not that I watch soccer but isn’t there a soccer team named the “Indomitable Lions”?

    • Ess Tee

      That would be Cameroon, Wu.

(I don’t have context for this question, though, because I haven’t fired up the podcast yet.)

      • Okay. I thought I remembered that moniker which may be the dopest name for a team like ever.

        • Ess Tee

They imploded at the World Cup, but their team name is, indeed, dope as heyll.

          • Sigma_Since 93

Didn’t they protest because they were not getting paid and treated properly?

            • Ess Tee

Yeah, they were saying that they weren’t being paid fairly so they almost didn’t fly to Brazil. Then while they were in Brazil, two of the team members almost got into a fight with each other. It was a mess.

          • Conrad Bess

All the African squads got John Blaze like names:

Botswana Dipitse (“The Zebras”) For Ms. Shammgod seeing as the team name is an anagram (almost) Dipset

            Ghana Black Stars

            Mozambique the Mambas

            Nigeria the Super Eagles

Sudan Sokoor Al-Jediane (The Desert Hawks)
            So many to list.

            • Ess Tee

I LOVE the Ghana Black Stars (as a name, that is). There’s also Egypt and The Pharaohs.

  • RewindingtonMaximus

    About to download.

Can this crazy commenter get in on the action one of these days? I’m ready to go HAM.

    • They need a call in show. It would be nice to hear everyone’s voices.

      • RewindingtonMaximus

It would be. Advertise it on Twitter, and have DM messages sent with the phone #, we call in, things get lit from there.

        • Other_guy13

I cant seem to find it

          • Other_guy13

            Nevermind

      • Other_guy13

That would be interesting…but also a bit of a cluster f*&k…but I’m down for the foolishness.

        • RewindingtonMaximus

Clusterfucks make for good entertainment though

      • Hammster

        That and live chat

    • Tee

You need a ‘VSB after Dark’ segment Rewind.

  • HouseOfBonnets

Because I need a distraction from the nation and social media right now.

Also are we gonna address this XXL freshman cover or nah? because i just saw it and questioned if I’m really 25 years old.

    • IsitFridayyet?

I’ve heard of two by name, not by music.

Lil Uzi Vert ?!?! What is that?

      • That sounds like some sort of high dive.

    • I’ve heard of some of them. I think Lil Dickey and Kevin Love are the same guy. I ‘ve never seen them in the same place at the same time. (The same could be said of rae srermmurd and Willow and Jalen Smith also.)

    • miss t-lee

I saw it. I was familiar with Anderson Paak, Kodak Black, and Faux Future.
As far as the rest? Meh.

They keep tryna sell that Lil D*cky kat–and I can’t be bothered.

      • HouseOfBonnets

The only one I like is paak because Malibu is awesome but I feel like lil dicky is a marketing ploy (or macklamore 2.0) and I haven’t seen a follow up to panda yet. Also why are they on this cover looking like interchangeable hip hop figurines….. I literally see almost no distinction. You’re on a cover in all white set yourself the fuck apart.

        • miss t-lee

I dig Anderson like…really, really dig him. Malibu is awesome, Venice is pretty good as well. If you can see him live do so. Saw him at SXSW and he was thee jam.
As far as little Dicky…I’m over these folks…lol

          • BmoreLikeLA

going to see Anderson this weekend. Been excited for weeks now.

            • miss t-lee

You’re gonna have so much fun. :)

        • Kim

I know of Dave East and Lil Uzi Vert but that’s about it.

          • HouseOfBonnets

who is lil uzi vert? it’s the one with the bandu knots isn’t it? lol

            • Kim

lol he’s the kid with the purple hair. I have no clue who’s the kid with he bantu knots.

        • Lil D*cky is the only one I could pick out of this lineup… Is this what being New Black feels like?

        • I guess I’m officially in retirement.

Don’t know who any of these guys are. Oh well, time to start listening to radio again. Been in my spotify world for too long.

          • HouseOfBonnets

No try soundcloud or discover playlist the radio is horrid.

        • I’m ready for hair cuts to become a thing again for black men everywhere.

      • I like Anderson.

        • miss t-lee

          He’s good money.

        • Co-sign. Go listen to Malibu, EVERYONE. Sometimes he sounds like a singing Kendrick Lamar, but in a good way.

      • Conrad Bess

Lil Dicky is nice. This issue for him (and most wyte rappers) is subject matter. Save Dat Money, despite all the truth that rang through it (there’s gotta be at least one of us that said don’t double charge me for that), is corny to a lot of us. Likewise, he knows he can’t be all Slim Jesus with us either. I streamed his disc off Spotify, and he got bars. He got wordplay.

      • I have to second the Lil D*cky endorsement as someone who can’t be bothered with any of it, but does have a few D*cky tracks on my playlists. He’s really not all bad.

    • It’s not good. It’s just who gets radio and club spins. Zzzzzzz

  • This man is on a podcast telling us that he hates podcasts. #SMH

  • Aly

Damon has an interesting accent, especially the way he says “Facebook” and “Kanye.” Must be a Pittsburgh thing.

    • miss t-lee

If you ever heard him say Beyonce it’s really interesting.

      • Aly

        I haven’t, but I can imagine lol.

    • Tee

Haha – I just said that upthread. I sat up when he said “Aah-some”.

      • Aly

Yeah, it’s the “ah” and “oo” sounds. He said, “Kohinye” haha

        • Tee

Exactly! He has a low key Boston accent

    • BmoreLikeLA

I just heard the “Kahn-ye” and it took me by surprise. I’ve never heard such a pronunciation
