VSB 2013: Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Baaaaack!

Happy New Year hombres and hombrecitas. You may remember that we took some time off. I know some of you were more okay with that than others seeing as I received several cross emails from individuals wondering what the hell was taking us so long to come back and post.

VSB and Cheers. Same sh*t. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name. And they’re always glad you came.

And yes, that is what she said.

If you’ll notice, there are some changes taking place around these parts. For starters, after what seems like umpteen years (more like 3) we’re going to start upgrading the template around here. We’re going to color things. No racism. We’re going to make things a bit more lively and add some folks into the mix. We were running a significant number of guest bloggers before the break and that shan’t cease. We’ve got a few things that we’ll be unloading in the coming weeks. And we’re excited about it…even after all of these years. It’s that Kelly Rowland motivation, ya dig?

Also, please give us a while to get our technical fixes together on the new site layout.

Oh, and mark your calendars and check your schedules: 4.6.13. DC. The Five. Pocohantas coming. Trick coming. Captain D coming. Details coming. Pics coming. Champ coming. Even Liz coming.

So before we break back into all that is good and right with VSB and get up a get get get down…let’s begin the VSB fiscal year on a personal note. Sure it’s the 7th. Sure you’ve told people these things a million times.

But unless you all live on Twitter, chances are you haven’t shared your resolutions or attempts at growth with the people here at VSB, and this way, you can document it and come back in 3, 6, or 9 months and see if you’ve done what you planned to do. How do you know where I’m at if you haven’t been where I’ve been…understand where I’m coming from?

Real spit, JUST in the past few days of this year I’ve learned a lot about myself already. That bodes well for my own much needed personal growth. And I don’t even make resolutions like that. And yet, I was given resolutions to resolve within myself. Say that three times fast. It’s not that difficult really.

Oh, and to everybody who came out to the NYE party I had a hand in throwing and the Reminisce party this past Saturday, maaaaaaaaan listen, those were some good parties. Thanks for sleepwalking with the kids.

So, good folks of VSB, let’s start the VSB year off with some good vibes and welcome back kotters, how was your Christmas (or whatever you celebrate), NYE, what did you do, and do you have any resolutions or changes you intend to make??

Please, everybody, share because sharing is caring.

Oh, and Django Unchained f*ckin’ rocked. Cocaine.

Panama Jackson is pretty fly (and gorgeous) for a light guy. He used to ship his frito to Tito in the District, but shipping prices increased so he moved there to save money. He refuses to eat cocaine chicken. When he's not saving humanity with his words or making music with his mouth, you can find him at your mama's mama's house drinking her fine liquors. Most importantly, he believes the children are our future. You can hit him on his hitter at

Looking fly round these here parts! But yeah, Christmas was dope, NYE was dipping into a few houses and clubs with everyone livetweeting but doing not a damb thing. Resolutions are the same ol’ same ol’ – eat healthier, workout more, and at least take that isht until after MLK Day.

    Happy New Year everyone!!!

Christmas was great. I channeled my inner Oprah and gave out a few of my favorite things. I also received some excellent gifts and spent QT with the fam. As for my NYE celebration I was oh so sleep and was awakened by the sound of gunfire and fireworks from The National Harbor. I then responded to some texts and answered a few calls and jumped right back into my slumber.

My only two resolutions were to A. get my financial house in order and 2. stop judging people. So far, it’s my bday month and seeing how I celebrate all 31 days, I’ve given myself a pass for the loose spending so I’ll have to check back in Feb for progress…About the judging? I’m not off to a great start but it’s definitely a work in progress.

    • WIP

#2- stop judging people- that’s a good one. I’m wondering if I dislike the things people do so much, should I just stop dealing with them…

      • Kidsister

I wouldn’t go so far as to stop dealing with them. Some of my inner circle make decisions that have me like o.0 but it doesn’t effect me sooooo, no need to disassociate myself. I just think they can do better. The question for me is usually, well is that really judging? We all have an opinion.

        • WIP

If it affects the way I interact with them, I think it is. And “judging” alone isn’t wrong IMO. I’m starting to wonder whether I am I enjoying being able to criticize other people’s decisions and that’s something I don’t want to become a habit.

          • nillalatte

I have that same attitude, unfortunately, and in the work place.

When someone is so difficult to work with, I tend to shut down and avoid them. Which is probably a really bad way to deal with their behavior.

          • Kidsister

Most often I find myself judging folks for their fashion faux pas. I think I just frown at bad decisions and keep it moving.

  • Iceprincess2

Heeeeeeey errbody! Hope yall holidays were dope. I missed you guys. 2013 leggoooooo!

  • Liz

I’m mad you spelled Pocahontas’ name wrong.

    • WayUPThere

Liz, can we have the search bar back on the site and time stamps on the posts, too?

  • AfroPetite

Ooooooooo fancy *sits gingerly on the reupholstered furniture*

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves doing whatever they were doing. The main things I plan on accomplishing by December 2013 are getting accepted to my Top 3 medical schools, becoming a mentor to someone, and refining my baking.

    • keisha brown

      oooo!! baked goods!!
*volunteers to be a tester. wait.. that flies in the face of my resolution.

    • Rewind

I want to be a mentor too. Let’s mentor kids into baking things we can eat and sell and give them a 60/40 split.

  • keisha brown

oooooooo!!!!!! shiny and new!!!!! me likey!!!!! *throws glitter

let’s see…1st christmas with my son. yeah…twas awesome.

NYE was watching my friend get married (and first night out without the wee one. i didnt freak out).

i just dropped my blog post (ok…scheduled the blog post) on my resolutions. but my top 3:
    1. get back the sexy. the kbb is out of control right now. lol.
    2. learn to drive. ttc hates the stroller life
    3. pray and attend church more.

oh and i will be in a relationship come this time next year. <–speaking #him into existence. ;)

    *vacuums glitter up.

    • Iceprincess2

Hey Keish, I hate to sound like a commercial, but try SlimQuick pills. They work! They really suppress your appetite, with no jittery side effects whatsoever.

    • Breezy

Keisha gurlllllllllllllll it will be ok. I don’t believe in diet pills and whatnot so I would just say watch your food intake, try juicing and hit that cardio at least 4 times a week for 45 minutes to an hour. Good luck Momma!

My 2013 resolution is to pinch more cheeks, write more scrips, making more movies, and share more love.

  • Ash.

    Looks nice. :)

  • nillalatte

I like the new look. Kudos.

I’m not a celebratory kind of person unless it includes alcohol or a lil something something if ya know what I mean… LOL ;)

Anywho, the holidays were, well, the holidays. I had a lot of time off and spent most of it hanging at my house with my kids. Since I recently moved, it was nice to actually spend some down time at home and nesting. A new home place store became my favorite new store.

As for NY resolutions, I wanted to actually sleep to 10am, but my internal alarm clock has decided not to allow it. My goals for this next year are quite simple, but complex in execution. There is a shyt load of stuff I have to study for the job that is keeping me really busy and trying to balance that with my computer science courses is a challenge.

One of the most important things on my mind is focusing on me and my health. I sometimes let other things distract me from taking care of me and I know that when I focus on me, I feel better, healthier, and a bit more feisty.

So, here’s to getting an ‘it’s all about me’ complex for 2013! :) *raises glass of champagne* yes, I’m still drinking! :D

    • chameleonic

what i wouldnt give to move. [*sighs deeply*]

    • Tentpole

We can work on the celebratory issue. 2014 is 11 3/4 months away

    • Rewind

I’m secretly hiding in your suitcase.

      • nillalatte

You need to get out of there because I’m back on the road next week and need the space! Wish me well ’cause I’m going to be flying and driving in snow! Yikes! I hope my car rental is front wheel drive. Worst of all, NO CELL SERVICE! My arse is on my own! I’ll send smoke signals. Wait, if I had the right kind of smoke you could leave me out there for a while. :D

    • Perverted Alchemist

“*raises glass of champagne* yes, I’m still drinking! ”

      Oh, no you’re not!

*snatches bottle of Abolut and hands Nillalatte a Pepsi*

      • nillalatte

Gently slaps PA up side the head and says “Boi, I’m classic. I want a coke. Take yo Pepsi somewhere else!” :D

  • Beautifullyhuman

Nice layout!! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays!

    My resolutions:

    1. Expand my personal library
    2. Reduce my stress
    3. Master this whack a** GMAT
    4. Try new things
    5. Journal more
