Once any song (produced by an endless number of capable crooners, dead and living) gets into your spirit, it's there. ... That said, I've never been a big fan of the R, uh, arrah, uh, you know, the 18th letter (not Rakim). But, when I went to the 2001 Essence Music Festival and they threw him off the stage because he refused to clean up his act/performance because there were families (read: kids) in the audience, my opinion of the guy was cemented: squandered talent.
