  • Mary Burrell

They definitely are true and loyal friends. Even when Bobby was flaking out on them they never criticized him or talked bad about him. I admired that about them.

    • fedup

Mike Bivins was on the radio this morning, and said the guys who play them have also developed a close friendship among themselves, and now communicate with each other everyday.

      • Mary Burrell

That’s interesting. I believe I was watching Unsung and Johnny Gil talked about how he was trying to fit in the group and Bobby Brown was not very welcoming to him. And Bobby says that he felt intimidated by Johnny Gil. Very interesting indeed.

        • Janelle Doe

          Bobby is surprisingly self-aware

    • Brother Mouzone

Me too. How loyal you are is one of the main ways I judge whether or not I will f*** with you. That’s just the way I grew up.

  • I saw your FB live post about Fifty Shades Darker. *speaks in overdub* You fool! You know I know that life.

  • IAmMikeBrown

Tank tryna play the Curtis Taylor Jr. role.

  • ChokeOnThisTea

“Turn that Candy Girl into a Chocolate Woman.” Now that’s a WORD right there. ??????

  • ChokeOnThisTea

I guess y’all took the party over to BlackTwitter then. Got me feeling like them goons in House Party II looking for the pajama jammy jam, but kept showing up to the wrong location.

    • Your reference made me laugh!,
I had to type hello ?

      • ChokeOnThisTea

        ?

Hey, Poppa! Glad I could make you laugh.

  • Kas loves Jamaican Breakfast
    • Crazy azz throwback! They had the waves laid, lol

    • fedup

Oh mah gawd. Look at Ricky’s hair! Memories.

    • miss t-lee

the LaCoste polos. I remember my older brother with them jumps.

      • Michelle is my First Lady

Same. My older brother also had a pair of bright, yellow shorts. They were his fav.

      • My dad worked for the company in the 80s. My brother and I STAYED in Lacoste polos because he got them for the employee discount.

        • miss t-lee

          Ha! Nice.

    • Cleojonz

Bobby was extra from day one.

      • cyanic

He’s the karate man in the picture. Ralph’s introduction in the movie is priceless.

I’m happy Ronnie grew into his eyes. Probably why he wasn’t my favorite back in the day.

      • miss t-lee

That was the reason I loved him from day one…lol

        • Michelle is my First Lady

Really? He looked like a little alien baby to me. But now? Yes, chile.

          • miss t-lee

            Yes really.
I loved that dude since I was 10, and that’s a lot of years.

    • ms. nylahou

Ronnie looks over Bobby already. And those shorts.

        Yes, to all of it!

    • Cleojonz

      There are too many faves!

I alternate between Ralph and Ronnie as favorite member.
Favorite early New Edition – Popcorn Love
Favorite grown New Edition – Can you Stand the Rain

I was just listening to a bomb throwback with D.J. Envy. They played N.E., BBD and solo projects. I forgot how dope Don’t be Cruel was.

      • Sigma_Since 93

        Don’t be Cruel had everything:

        You could dance to it
        It bumped in the car

It had great quotables. – I gave you my heart you gave me your mind and a true love affair we could never find

      • fedup

Don’t Be Cruel is legendary. Bobby tore it up when he left. I always wondered if they secretly wished he’d stayed. I was never really wit Johnny until Can You Stand the Rain.

      NE Heartbreak

Ralph – That wave / shag combo with the part was the stuff of legends
Helplessly in Love – This tender Roni had me open and I swear this song came on every time she walked by
Tie Do Me / Hit Me Off – The bass lick in Do Me is soo sick and Bobby did the dang thing in that video.

          So true.

However, this is not a style that should make a comeback kids. Just admire it from afar.

          • Sigma_Since 93

“However, this is not a style that should make a comeback kids.”

Subject A for why this should not come back.. see Kanye West

          • cyanic

You know I crush hard on throwback nuggas from a bygone era I was alive for.

          • miss t-lee

It had a comeback up in Dallas a few years back.

The commercials at the end of every.single.scene. Drove me crazy.

    • Kim

lol The commercials gave me time to check out twitter so I can’t complain.

    • Jennifer

BET paid for those music rights! NE, their producers, and publishers got paid. We got to hear “Can You Stand The Rain?” in its entirety last night. My little watch party was getting its life. It’s none of that Aaliyah movie mess. I’ll deal with some commercials. :-)

      • PhlyyPhree

“BET paid for those music rights!!”

And that is why there are so many dam ned commercials. I just hope they used the premiere night numbers and re-neogtiated for higher rates for the rest of the series. If I have to keep being force fed tax slayer commercials, I need them to be caking alllll the way off.

        • Jennifer

I wonder how much play they will get from the CMT cross promotion for Nashville, lol

That commercial threw me for a loop.

      • miss t-lee

I’m just glad they introduced me to Luke James, been jamming him most of the morning.

        • Michelle is my First Lady

I’ve been a fan of Luke James for a minute. If you liked him in the NE biopic, you’ll love this:

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKT1B1EfSrA

          • miss t-lee

Yeah, I’ve been loving “Options” and “Trouble” so far.

        • Jennifer

          lol…

So, Luke James was Beyonce’s opening act in DC during the Mrs. Carter Tour. Her people must have been like, “Look, Luke! Bey is giving you 10 minutes onstage. Then you gotta bounce so we can get ready for her spectacular spectacular.”

Luke kept repeating his name and his website before and after his 3 songs like his career depended on it. I’ve never heard an act hustle as hard as he did in his little set. But, to his credit, I’ve never forgotten him and I continue to enjoy his music.

Hope he gets more attention from this movie. Such a talent!

          • miss t-lee

Hey…if you get a moment like that, definitely gotta make the most of it…lol

    • ms. nylahou

That’s why I recorded the episodes, and me and a bottle of wine are watching them at once tonight. Y’all, it’s gonna be so lit, I hear it’s so good…so excited.

  • BatmansExWife

I have yet to watch any of it. It’s recording, and I planned to watch it last night, but Moonlight is back in theaters so I went to the movies. I’ll catch up on at least part 1 tonight.

    • Sigma_Since 93

      How was it?

      • BatmansExWife

It was good. I hated the ending because it felt like I was left to my own imagination. Noamie Harris was awesome.

        • Cleojonz

That was my only complaint about the movie, how it seemed to just end. Other people I spoke to said they love that it ended that way. It just left me wanting a sequel.

          • Jennifer

It’s that independent movie, isn’t it? The film ends without any resolution because life goes on. It can bug the heck out of me sometimes, and other times be pretty satisfying. I was just glad he finally got to make a connection with someone who understood him. Getting chills just thinking about it.

          • BatmansExWife

Right. I felt like it left me hanging, which is okay because you can take it how you want, but I want to know what happened! Maybe Kevin explained that was just a one time thing.

            • cyanic

Adult Kevin may not be satisfied in relationships with women? And Chiron (Black) could certainly end up like Juan? Hence we can only go to this highlight of the third act of his life. Getting an apology from his mother and Kevin reconnecting with him.

          • miss t-lee

This what my sister told me. I still plan to check it out.

            • Cleojonz

You should it is a brilliant movie, so different from anything I’ve ever seen and it’s beautifully filmed. Not to mention grown up Chiron is pretty nice on the eyes.

              • miss t-lee

Oh yeah, that dude is all kinds of fine.
I’m mad that I just barely learned Travante was here locally for a whole hot minute.

    • Michelle is my First Lady

I’m glad it is back in theaters. I’m gonna have to go check it out again.

      • BatmansExWife

Yes, and Regal is doing something for their crown members. $35 to see all of the movies that are nominated for Best Movie this year with the Oscars.

  • Michelle is my First Lady

Listening to NE at work today…… If It Isn’t Love…..

    • fedup

I rewatched the video this morning, and noticed something I hadn’t back in the day: Ralph had on stirrup pants. Now, some details of life from back then are starting to be a bit hazy, but were dudes wearing stirrups then? Or ever? I don’t care either way, just wondering.

      • cyanic

Not a trend then from what I knew and I was too young to really know. But his feminine quality was s e x y to me then and now.

      • KeyBrad

Yep, I noticed that too. But yea, it was a short lived trend back in the 80’s.
