This year she insisted that she was going to vote McCain. When I told her about the private banks selling themselves because of the economy, she murmured in concern, and I couldnt help but slide in that if she votes McCain, he's not going to make it any better for us, because things are only getting better for him. Maybe she'll listen this time.I've always had trouble dating Republicans. We just don't see things the same way. Their concept of poverty and economic change are horribly misaligned with mine. They also tend to have a distaste for immigrants and fall to using stereotypes gleefully. More often than not -- not saying all republicans are -- they proved closed-minded in a lot of aspects, and were very VERY quick to resort to name calling and attacking personal characters in arguments and debates. I will not date one again, regardless of Obama or future candidates... I 've had friends who were definite republicans but with brains and coherent arguments and I greatly respected them. I just thought they were dead wrong. We could get into some fun debates (aka great arguments). But for a SO.... nah. There couldn't be a big pervasive issue that we simply couldn't talk about. B/C my republican friends I had to treat like my friend who believes Michael Jackson only had 2 surgeries. We had to leave the whole issue alone after eating a pork chop and some potato chips.
