Its Time To Stop Allowing Ourselves To Be Seduced By Shitty White Women

Tomi Lahren is a terrible person.

Not misunderstood. Or just a conservative. Or capital letter White. Or even very problematic.

No, she is an abjectly awful person. She says abhorrent and hateful things, and has leveraged this abhorrence and hate to give herself a larger platform to infect more people with it and make more money off of it. She is willfully and dangerously ignorant, is either unaware of or unconcerned with historical context, and also seems to have no problem inciting violence against people protesting and brutalized by it. If Heaven exists — and I believe it does — and what we believe to be true about Heaven is actually true, if she died today she would not be there tomorrow.

She is also young, petite, and very blonde; characteristics that, in tandem, are considered by very many people to be the three most desirable things a woman can be. If she appeared on screen and the TV happened to be on mute and you happened to not be paying much attention to it, you could easily mistake her for Kristen Bell or Emilia Clarke.

This — her appearance and youth and physical presence — seems to be incongruent with who she actually is. It’s not at all, of course. She is, again, a terrible fucking person. (Do not forget this.) But everything America encourages us to believe about how terrible and dangerous people are supposed to look and sound (not like Tomi Lahren) and the type of people people who look like Tomi Lahren are supposed to be (not terrible and dangerous) suggests otherwise.

This particular strain of socialization also ignores history. Tomi Lahrens are directly responsible for false arrests, beatings, whippings, lynchings, and even executions. If you watch the footage of Ruby Bridges desegregating William Frantz Elementary, or Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Jefferson Thomas, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls LaNier Minnijean Brown, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Thelma Mothershed, and Melba Pattillo Beals desegregating Little Rock Central High, you’ll see dozens of Tomi Lahrens on the front lines, clutching signs, hurling stones, and spewing hate; their pretty little blonde fucking faces twisted, evil, and cruel.

But their looks have granted them the privilege of consideration. Sometimes even kindness. (And sometimes even cupcakes.) Because women that young, that blonde, that petite just can’t possibly also be that hateful. It’s unfathomable that they could genuinely be this vile and wicked. So maybe a conversation might sway them. Or an invitation to a show. Or a hug. Or a drink. Or a date even. Or a dick inside of them. Or, shit, maybe even having a kid with them might do it. It never does, of course. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever. But that doesn’t stop us from trying. (If it’s not obvious already, “us” in this context is “Black men.”)

While both history and the present inform us that we should be impervious to whichever charms we believe they possess — that our lives can literally depend on refusing to be seduced by them — we still allow it to happen. We still want to acknowledge and engage them. We still want to be nice to them. Perhaps with the hope that they’ll acknowledge and engage us in return. But all this does is validate them. It gives them credibility for engaging us; which, in the eyes of their friends and fans and followers, is effectively and bravely slumming. It promotes their brands and boosts their platforms. It buys them more airtime and unlimited bleach. It provides them an alibi for their hate. Because Tomi Lahren can’t really be racist if she’s getting drinks with Trevor and mean mugging with Charlamagne. Look how fun she looks!

And when we allow that to happen, we’re not brave. We’re not sober. We’re not attempting to find a common ground. We’re not extending an olive branch. We’re not being the bigger person. We’re not taking one for the team. We’re not even genuine. We’re just the help.

He has an A in “Nucca, you friggin’ trying too hard” GTFOWTBS

      • Mochasister

Aww, he really want them drawers, don’t he?!

        • Blueberry01

Or, maybe he wants to trade in his skin color, it’s a toss up…

          • Mochasister

He doesn’t have that much to begin with! If I were him, I would be going the other route. I hate how white supremacy has so many of us thinking that we have to “mejorar la raza.” Ugh. I wish we truly appreciated the blessing that melanin is and that it is not a curse.

            • Blueberry01

It’s a lifelong journey to erase the hatred that was implanted deep down inside of us. Plus, some men don’t have the outlets/choose not to discuss their emotional or psychological issues.

I’m not saying all women do either, but we’re more likely to discuss our issues among one other than they are.

              • Mochasister

                I agree.

    • Brother Mouzone

is that the woman who used to be on the Nightly Show?

      • [Insert Creative Name Here]

        “The woman”?!

*Gasp* Yes, that’s Franchesca Ramsey. Actually, she has relevance to the crap Charlemagne twitted the other day about there not being black/latina women doing what Tomi is doing. She- along with many more- definitely is.

        • Brother Mouzone

          Aaaaaaand she’s married to a wydude…go figure.

  • LegallyClueless

Although I understand the discontent with Trevor Noah and Charlamagne giving her a “platform” (which she clearly already had), I’ve looked at their conversations with her, not as an attempt to change HER opinions, but rather to challenge her in a way that causes someone watching her to sit back and realize how stupid she sounds. If her fans only watch her clips then they never see her stupidity challenged, but after seeing her on the Daily Show, maybe they’ll be able to see a new perspective. Her attitude has been too profitable for her to change, but I do believe that at least some of her viewers are not SO lost as to not be influenced by the conversation.

    • Epsilonicus

” I’ve looked at their conversations with her, not as an attempt to change HER opinions, but rather to challenge her in a way that causes someone watching her to sit back and realize how stupid she sounds.”

My thoughts exactly. They basically let her hang herself.

      • Janelle Doe

But Eps. Will she hang herself or is she slated for a spot on Fox news and these platforms are basically her interview?

Going along with your process – why not give airtime to reasoned perspectives so that her fans are those as well?

        • Epsilonicus

I think for Noah it was more about educating his viewers about her beliefs etc. Noah probably has an audience that majority white and cosmopolitan. They think that conservatives are old rednecks. But seeing this young millennial woman spouting this ish lets them know its a bit more closer to home.

I did not even know Charlemagne met her. Who looks to him for news anyway?

          • Janelle Doe

            Re Trevor, OK.
            Re other dude, LOL

            • Epsilonicus

Ijs. If you looking at Charlemagne to be anything more than a clown…

          • Cleojonz

I just happened to listen to the Breakfast club the day after the Daily show appearance. She was actually slated to do the Breakfast club the next day

but her people canceled to do damage control. Probably thought they would attack her too. He kept saying how much he enjoyed her, it’s entertainment.

          • Tasha Lawrence?

Noah doesn’t get a pass either. No excuse.

      • mr. steal your costco samples

yeah, nah. no good faith debate with these people has been possible since well before Baldwin roasted Buckley. They need less platform, not more.

      • Problem is, we tried this with Donald Trump and the people that needed to get it were too dumb to see the faults in his logic.

        • -h.h.h.-

we tried this with Donald Trump

          Did we?

when you say ‘try’ is that the part where we say anyone who votes for Donald Trump is a racist misogynistic creep?

did we actually care what flyover country goes through? or are they irrelevant because they think all lives matter and are, as such, dismissed?

          • We sat Donald on TV every day and he couldn’t make one logical, valid point… Now he’s going to be President.

            • “M”

              Frightening, isn’t it?

          • MsSula

            What exactly is your point?

            • -h.h.h.-

              i have none.
              have an awesome day.

              • Lamar Latrell

have a seat. Here, have two.

              • “M”

                Troll.

          • Brooklyn_Bruin

Yes, we did..We tried to let Trump hang himself. But we’ve been in a post truth environment since Bush Jr.

There are some rural areas that flipped to Trump. But there are a whole lot more that have been neglected no matter who is in power.

TRUMP is their gift to us

            • -h.h.h.-

ok so it’s ‘no more talk’ time.

          • “M”

“when you say ‘try’ is that the part where we say anyone who votes for Donald Trump is a racist misogynistic creep?”

It doesn’t mean that, Mr. “I Care More About Being Called ‘Racist’ Than About the Racist Things I Actually Do”.

It does mean that that person, whoever they are, is perfectly okay with a racist misogynist running the country, and that that person doesn’t care who gets hurt as a result.

(It also probably means that person is too clueless to figure out that unless they’re a billionaire like Putin or Mnuchin they’re not going to be any better off either, but this is the person Lyndon Johnson talked about when he said that if you make the worst white man think he is better than the best black man, that will give you all the cash out of his own pockets and think he’s getting a good deal.)

        • MsSula

Exactly. Like what kind of pass are we even trying to hand again to whom?

I am so annoyed by all this exposure she is getting. There are a lot more people, doing a lot more important and interesting things that need to showcased. UGH.

    • Sparger

Her fans don’t do facts. As a matter of fact they think she came out on top. Would Charlamange or Trevor have James O’Keefe on their shows. The answer is no. No pass and do not give racists more of a platform It normalizes their opinion.

      • LegallyClueless

I would argue that all the tweeting back and forth and think pieces on her Daily Show appaearance and TMZ video having given her more of a platform than the actual act people are complaining about.

        • Epsilonicus

          Mmmhmmm

      • Exactly. This is what happens when a racist becomes president. Racism is thus how we define the left and the right of our politics, and people will base their coverage on the premise that all men and women aren’t created equal.

    • Anonymouse

While that may be the hope, I believe it’s false. Typically these are cheerleading sessions and this just gives her a bigger platform and some form of validation. Going from the National Enquirer “fake news” level to a real legit platform.
Without a doubt her looks have gotten her this opportunity. Let her be an overweight, unattractive person; she simply wouldn’t be there. She would be seen as who she is. She’s subtly (or not so subtly) being framed as desirable.
      Ignore the trolls.

      • Epsilonicus

She has a legit platform. Her FB videos get mad play, into the millions. Shucks, she get more viewers than many cable tv networks.

        • Anonymouse

Agreed she gets a lot of play, a lot of it because she’s cute. But so does Prison Planet, and the National Enquirer. The star of the apprentice is our president. Unless you are ready to shut people like this down, all the way down don’t have them. Do not play nice. Don’t.

          • Epsilonicus

See you arguing about it from an ideas perspective when its not about ideas, it is about views/dollars. She brings both.

            • Anonymouse

Not all money is good money.

              • Epsilonicus

Agreed but this media game is played differently.

              • Brooklyn_Bruin

                ^ communist

      • LegallyClueless

Well I’ve only seen TDS segment and then the clip when Charlemagne was on her show earlier this year and I wouldn’t call either a cheerleading session. Both challenged her views with more chill than I could have. But people are going to see what they want to see.

    • Ty Ellison

The only problem with that is that her fans will see what they want to see. And since Lahren has already gone back to her cave …um, show to boast about standing up to the “big bad liberals” at Comedy Central, her mission was accomplished. Her fans won’t care that she couldn’t answer one question about what is the right way to protest. All THEY see is that their blonde conservative hero put herself in the liberals’ direct line of fire, and she returned a conquering hero.

    • Me

Her fans aren’t watching her for alternative thoughts. They watch her for the echoes of what’s already in their heads. Just like the people who watch Trevor Noah’s show watch him for the “likemindedness” that we all claim. These kinds of contrarian interactions only serve to strengthen the resolve of either side. Don’t believe me? Take a survey of VSB to see if anyone’s opinions of Tomi, Trevor, or the topics they discussed were swayed one way or another after that interview.

    • King Beauregard

Indeed, here’s an article that reinforces your point:

      http://www.vox.com/culture/2016/12/4/13807584/daily-show-tomi-lahren-interview

  • Janelle Doe

That last two paragraphs!!! The entire Daily show segment I was wondering why not take this valuable airtime and give it to Kaepernick or the BLM founders?

    • MsSula

Thank you!!! Like why are we being subjected to this? These liberals are starting to grate on my very last nerve.

  • Jax

This post is spot on! Tomi shouldn’t even have been on The Daily Show. There is no need to “hear both sides” when it comes to racism. Charlatan and Trevor Nah are continuing to normalize the hate that so many of us have been fighting against. This fool sent her cupcakes! They are pathetic.

    • Sigma_Since 93

We can say the same thing about the Roland Martin interview with Richard Spencer.

    • Janelle Doe

Especially when (in my exp watching) there are no guests to represent the other side. Just the host taking it on and creating space for the guest and their fans to celebrate the airtime.

      • mr. steal your costco samples

…and their fans will be like “EVEN THE BLACK LIBERAL TREVOR NOAH AGREES BLACK PEOPLE MIGHT BE TRASH”

        • Epsilonicus

They think that whether she on the show or not.

          • MsSula

So why put her on the show? Who is supposed to be the audience for this?

            • Epsilonicus

Because she draws views and she is relevant. You may find her disgusting but she puts up numbers in her YouTube videos higher than he puts up numbers on TDS. Plus the way he allowed her to hang herslef builds his credibility among his audience and makes him a better brand. There was tons of press discussing this interview as Noah’s coming out party on TDS. #AllAboutTheBenjamins

              • MsSula

So people should then miss me with the idea that this is to “encourage” debate.

It is not. It is a way to get paid. Point blank. The end. Why are we trying to pretend it’s for the “good of all”?

                • Epsilonicus

I think Noah did it to encourage debate. I think the network recognized that they could have picked any conservative. However, the best thing for ratings is to pick the one blazing up the social media charts. Even this piece would not have been written if Noah debated Bob the conservative from accounting.

        • Janelle Doe

          Yup.

    • Johanne Sterling

      Charlatan though!!! I’m crynnnnnnn

    • Blueberry01

      Did you say charlatan? ?

      • Jax

        LOL! It’s so fitting.

        • Blueberry01

          It really is, though.

        • Blueberry01

Also, kill ’em with that wrap and go in your avi, Jax!

          • Jax

            lol thanks

  • Sparger

Charlamagnes in all his uselessness tweeted out

“Would be dope if a young black or Hispanic “WOKE” woman used social media to create a Platform to be a voice like Tomi Lahren did.”
    7:21 PM – 6 Dec 2016

So sick of black men that actively hate us. He can’t be this stupid, can he?

    • Yes… he’s a repeat offender.

    • Janelle Doe

He really said that? Wow. He doesn’t see that he could also be as supportive to that woke person? How tone deaf

Did he get dragged for that?

    • Please tell me he got dragged

    • Epsilonicus

Should people expect anything more from him though?

      • Tasha Lawrence?

No. I don’t even understand why he is getting dragged. Don’t people know his schtick, already?

Aaaaand I do watch the breakfastclub

    • RaeNBow

yes, he can ABSOLUTELY be this stupid. more likely, he is just self promoting and keeping his name buzz worthy.

    • Blueberry01

I did realize that a young woman, seemingly attractive by white, European standards created her own platform. Had she been a minority, older, or overweight, she wouldn’t have a platform because they are active biases against all three groups in MSM.

  • Val
  • raul

Never heard of her but I might start watching her show with the volume off though. Good looking out.

    • mr. steal your costco samples

      • Blueberry01

        Y’all proving our points.

    • Blueberry01

      Point proven.

Thank you for this post. You expressed everything I was feeling in a more classier way I would have expressed.

Oooh look out. My fashion spirit animal. If she ever leaves SUITS that’s it! :-)

      • Sigma_Since 93

Where were you hiding???? She’s gone momma!

        • Janelle Doe

NooooOOOO (But thanks for telling me. )
I try to do binge watches when I am home with flus. I clearly missed a season or so.

          • Valerie

            I’m sad now lol

        • Valerie

WAIT she is? I missed the last season. I didn’t care about Mike being in jail.

        • Tasha Lawrence?

          Wait. Stop. No!!!!!

      • Valerie

MINES TOO. I love me some Jessica Pearson lol

        She left last season

          • Duende Brooks

No such thing as Afro Latina Negroes are indigenous to America

            • La Bandita

There IS a such thing and you don’t get to define how we see ourselves. You’re assuming you have power to write the narrative. You have no power at all except trolling Black women and girls. I am Afro Latina deal with it.

              • Duende Brooks

You didn’t define yourself as that, that was given to you by the media and you took on that identity . I even have when it started. There are “latino/a’s that dont want to be call that because they know they are not that. You took on an identity handed to you by the media. I am pretty sure you nor your ancestors took a vote to be call that . Yeah I am trolling until people start using their brain. Information age, no excuse to be ignorant -ignoring facts.

What did your ancestors call themselves? Black mean white and pale

                • La Bandita

The same way the Dutch can call themselves South African with a straight face. The same way Wyte Americans can call themselves American. I get to decide if I keep the name or leave it – no es tu.

People, places and names are constantly evolving – you don’t get to decided how I continue to define myself.

              • Mark Stuber

Your use of the definite article “the” as opposed to the indefintate article “a” is very deceptive.

Anyone who has the ability to read and write has an ability to write a narrative.

If I knew how to bold in this format to emphasize, I would have emphasizes the indefinite article “a” in the sentence above,

                • La Bandita

Good thing you can’t bold or you may have had a point (no you wouldn’t).

                  • Mark Stuber

You’re guilty of the fallacy of incredulity. Just because you don’t get the point, does not mean there is no point.

                    • La Bandita

Again you nor he have a point. I define myself. Black women invented that. It’s the freedom of being an outlier.

                    • Beauty In Truth

“Hey look at me! I’m the arrogant cuckold white guy coming to a black blog to contribute absolutely nothing to the discussion! Any of you fine chocolate ladies wanna take a short ride on this here tug boat? Get it? Tug tug…”

                      “Witcho” incredulously asinine azz.

How’s that vernacular for ya Stuberwitz?

      • I’ve BEEN about GIna Torres since like Angel. That’s an attractive woman right there.

    • Brina Payne

And you pick the CLASSIEST photo to express your comment.

She’s the reason why I watch Suits :)

      • Valerie

My only reason too. She is everything.

    • Mary Burrell

Gina Torres on Suits is so flawless

  • Lex

Next she will claim she’s not a racist POS because she has black “friends.”

    • Blueberry01

Actually, Lex, the new minimum standard of non-racism is only having ONE black friend and knowing what a Mexican looks like.

      • Lex

        I’ll govern myself accordingly ???

  • RaeNBow

i’m so sick of hearing about this chick, LOL

but Charlemagne is doing exactly what he needs to do to keep people talking about him. I mean, he is embracing the entertainer role fully. #shrug
