Is Mike Tomlin A Great Coach? A (Very, Very, Very, Very) Quick Survey

Last week, concussion-ridden jack-o-lantern with curious sentience Terry Bradshaw stated that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was a “nice” coach and “great cheerleader” but not a great coach. This, of course, is the same Tomlin who’s amassed a 102–57 record in his 10 years with the Steelers, is the youngest coach to win a Super Bowl, and even today is still the fifth youngest head coach in any of the four major North American professional sports.

But since Darth Deliverance brought it up, I guess a quiz is necessary. Is Mike Tomlin a great coach?

Your choices are below.

A) Yes

B) Terry Bradshaw can go fuck a goat. And not even a horny goat. A goat that’s, like, really tired from a day’s worth of goating, and needs a half hour of foreplay to warm up. Basically, Terry Bradshaw can go fuck a goat that would rather watch Westworld and go to bed early.

C) Why are the qualifications, merits, and acuities of a man with one of the best resumes in NFL coaching history always up for debate? I mean, I know why — and I know you know why toobut the question still must be asked, if even rhetorically.

D) All of the above

  • QueenRaven23

Smh. I guess he’s an okay coach.

Ravens will be back next year, so…

    • Val

      That was a good game.

      • QueenRaven23

Yea, it’s my fault we lost. I broke my superstition by watching the game in the 4th quarter.

Welp, on to next year. And London! for our game

        • Val

Lol @ your superstition. Mine is if we’re ahead in the 4th I stop watching and just check the score every now and then. If we’re losing I’ll watch.

          • QueenRaven23

I’m not supposed to watch the game at all. I was doing fine until I walked into my grandparents house. I’d hope they were watching basketball, but my little cousin is a Squeelers fan. dude cries when they lose. I had to teach him about the Baltimore Colts and Unitas.

      Cawwww….Nevermore!

  • OldManGray

I’ve noticed that SFY has been quite the pot stirrer during the NFL season. Many storylines have come from Whitlock and Cowherd’s interviews, including Ray Lewis calling Joe Flacco out for not being passionate enough. Not discounting Terry Bradshaw’s ineptitude, but I do believe these hot takes are made to generate interest in an otherwise meh show.

  • HouseOfBonnets

As a non disappointed bears fan (because fuck the bears! they know why)

    I’m gonna go with D.

    • Val

Why do the Bears love Cutler so much? QTNA

      • HouseOfBonnets

        (insert hand claps for emphasis)
I have no ldea! We ain’t liked shorty since he got here, if it was up to us lovie would still be here and we would have built around him, but the front office has made it clear that they would like to remain the joker on this deck of NFL cards. When they double downed and renewed his contract with that ridiculous payout we wanted to drag them……. That’s why they’re using Groupon to sell tickets. Until they get rid of him and do right by us everything they think about is gonna crumble. I just wish the 49ers would have smoked them a few weeks ago.

        • Val

Yeah, they should have kept Luvie and gotten rid of Cutler for sure.

          • HouseOfBonnets

I’m semi convinced he’s blackmailing them

          • Cutler is a coach killer. I don’t know why he wins all these coach-player battles.

            • HouseOfBonnets

He gotta have something over them, I’m convinced that and the legend of white medocracy

              • Pure talent isn’t his issue. He’s just a Grade A a$$hole.

              • Brother Mouzone

Yep, and their leader and grand Puba….Jeff Fisher.

        • Spartacus
          • HouseOfBonnets

Just read it, brought back the pain of when we found out they fired him. We were ready to fight that day tbh.

            • Spartacus

My heavy praying momma wanted to throw hangs.

              • HouseOfBonnets

                She was all of us

    • PriceIsRightHorns

As a disappointed Vikings fan who witnessed from five and O to five and NO, I feel your pain sista.

      • Brother Mouzone

        Fellow Vikes fan here…..SKOL

        • PriceIsRightHorns

Terrible season, but we’ve been here before.

          • Brother Mouzone

            Yep…unfortunately.

  • PinkRose

    Dallassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. That’s ALL I got!

    • Val

      Nope.

      • QueenRaven23

Right!!! I think it will be Green Bay and New England

        • Val

Green Bay? No. NY Football Giants vs. somebody. Possibly New England.

          • QueenRaven23

You think your Giants can stop Aaron’s offense. Green Bay finally got there ish together. I don’t see anyone else beating New England unless a miracle happens.

            • Val

The Giants have a great offense as long as grandpa Ely isn’t throwing interceptions so yeah, we can hang.

              • QueenRaven23

Exactly. Grandpa Eli needs to transform to cousin Eli and not make stupid throws.

    • chilly2

Thrills abound watching them… Superbowl bound.

  • chilly2

Great? Dunno. Belichick he ain’t, but he’s the real deal. I’d take him over Pete Carroll in a heartbeat.

  • Val

If Ben Rapenberger wasn’t on the Steelers I’d root for them because I like Mike Tomlin.

    Go Giants! Boo Cowbells.

    • PinkRose

I’m with you on Pittsburgh. But the rest of your comment?

Superbowl LI baby, in yo’ face!!! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/dbab58ad67c160c6156b17709cf6510edec90bc789cd00fd4364ed66a5032eaa.jpg

      • Val

How dare you. Dallas has two losses this year. Both to the NY Football Giants! Ha!

        http://sportsngiggles.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/new-york-giants.gif

        • PriceIsRightHorns

Yeah. The Giants have their number.

        • PinkRose

And yet we’re STILL ahead of the Giants. By 3 games to be exact, soon to be 4.

And since the Giants won’t be our opponents in the Superbowl, those 2 losses will fade into memory. This ain’t 2012.

        • SouthwestDekalb

Rise up! Don’t forget about my Falcons guys….they won’t disappoint me this year.

          • Mr. Mooggyy

Is this a hope/prayer? Matty Ice tends to go ice cold in the playoffs!

            • SouthwestDekalb

Now I can’t lie about that, but we can agree that he’s been playing lights out this year and finally has legit help outside of Julio with defense that’s coming into their own? Do you really wanna see these guys in the playoffs…..probably not.

          • Val

I hear being a Falcons fan is difficult. Lol

            • SouthwestDekalb

It’s downright gut wrenching, but I’m a true fan though. I haven’t seen so many Dallas fans since 94!

            • B-Dot Willz

It’s bad for your soul but we just keep at it. #birdgang #riseup

    • Cleojonz

Had to take your upvote away because of the snide Cowboys slander.

      • Val

No such thing as slander where the Cowbells are concerned. :-)

        • Cleojonz

          Ugggh lol.

  • Valerie

I’m upset about my Titans and how Marcus Mariota got hurt. Yes I’m from Houston and a Titans fan. Reasons why: They were the Oilers. Huge fan of Steve McNair, Eddie George, Marcus Mariota.

I’m gonna go with D. I like Mike, I think he’s a good coach better coach than any of coaches my Titans have had.

On an extremely petty note I hope the Cowboys make it to the SuperBowl since it’s in Houston and will drive my ex crazy.

    • Val

What’s with everyone pulling for Dallas? NY can’t get any love? Go Giants!

      • Valerie

I’m only rooting for them because I’m mad the Texans won the division and my QB is hurt. Petty reasons. I like the Giants but Odell gets on my nerves.

        • Val

ODB gets on everybody’s nerves but he’s good. Lol

        • HouseOfBonnets

          I love odb lol

          • Valerie

            Lol he’s so emotional

            • HouseOfBonnets

I guess that’s part of his appeal to me plus when he has his candid moment it’s hilarious lol

          • PriceIsRightHorns

            So do the nets.

            *I’ll see myself out*

            • QueenRaven23

I wish I was as passionate about my job as OBJ lol.

              • PriceIsRightHorns

                LOLOLOL

            • Valerie

That was the funniest thing I’ve seen. They kept replaying it lol

              • PriceIsRightHorns

And I keep watching it. #Classic

            • HouseOfBonnets

              Badum dum lol

      • PinkRose

I was born into a Cowboy family (Thanks Dad) and went to college with one of the greatest Cowboys of ALL time!

        Next question?

        • Val

I’m going to give you a break since your dad is the reason your a Cowbell fan. And I’m even going to give you a tissue when they lose in the playoffs.

          • PinkRose

            LOL!!!! We’ll see about that!

        • Cleojonz

So your dad went to college with Tony Dorsett?

Same here, Cowboys since birth. I’m not here for all these bandwagonners running around in Giants territory all of a sudden reppin’ for my boys.

          • PinkRose

            Opps, I wasn’t clear.

I went to college with one of the greatest of all times. ?

      • PriceIsRightHorns

I’m not pulling for Dallas, but I want Dak to continue to show out. Tony WHO?

        • Val

Yeah, I’m happy to see him take Romo’s job too.

          • PriceIsRightHorns

He’s doing exactly what he should be doing – carrying a clipboard.

      • Outside of Odell there’s no one really likable or at least personable on the Giants.

        • Val

          Cruz?

          • Bah Debo

The overwhelming “meh” presence of Eli cancels out all likable personalities on the Giants for me…..CANNOT stand that dude

            • Val

Yeah, Eli is annoying. I wish he would retire.

              • Bah Debo

                THANK YOU
Between Eli…and then the Giant’s are my wife’s team (I’m mean, I know)….I just can’t be a fan. ODB is undeniably impressive tho.

              • Cleojonz

                It’s definitely time.

          • Other_guy13

            Fukboi???

            • Val

No, I’m not talking about Jamal Anderson. I’m talking about Victor Cruz. :-)

              • Other_guy13

                Touche’

      • Khalil Jannah

        No

        • Val

          Lol @ Eagletes fans

      • Kylroy

        I’m pulling for Dallas…’s hamstrings.

I know it hasn’t been true since the ’90s, but I still feel the Cowboys are the Yankees of the NFL.

      • Other_guy13

Tony Romo still on the roster….GO FALCONS!!!!!!

    • Other_guy13

LOL….great reason to be a Titans fan. I feel bad y’all got hit with the Christmas eve curse as well…so much promise.

    • B-Dot Willz

That does suck for Mariota. It actually looked like something good may happen for the Titans this year.

  • Stanley

You got full blown trash white coaches that didn’t even win a Super Bowl, they just got their team there and then never made it that far again who get more respect than Tomlin. I don’t get it.

    • Valerie

Jeff Fisher. Good example. Glad he got fired with his traitorous ways.

      • QueenRaven23

They took forever to fire Fisher. He is just an awful coach

        • Valerie

Ugh I know. I had to deal with him when he was with the Titans. Fisher was so trash lol

          • QueenRaven23

I don’t get how he could move on from head coach position to head coach position. Smh. And I hate what happened to Tennessee. I plan on seeing them next year when they play the ravens.

            • Valerie

Yes. I honestly have mixed feelings for Fisher departure but I do know he is privileged

            • With Fisher, he has a rep as an Owner’s Guy who played ball with their shenanigans. I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s politics as usual.

              • Kylroy

OK, Fisher’s persistence always stunned me because firing a coach is the easiest move for an owner eager to show they’re Doing Something. I can see how a rep for being a loyal minion could stave that off…just surprised it worked for like 4 years.

        • Other_guy13

Got to one superbowl and lost yet he is a good coach….Okay

    • I’m pretty sure Jeff Fisher has coached teams that have had more CONSECUTIVE losing seasons than any Black coach in history has had total.

      • Brother Mouzone

6 winning seasons in 22 years of coaching….you think a Black coach would keep getting hc jobs with THAT resume?

    • Brother Mouzone

Gus Bradley just got fired from the Jags after going 14-48, in 3 years. The worst record ever accumulated in NFL history while still keeping a job. John Gruden had the nerve to call this man a “great” coach on national tv..say whut? Meanwhile Dennis Green(8 playoffs in 10 years) Lovie(got a team to the Super bowl with Rex “freekin” Grossman at quarterback), Tony Dungy(ONE losing season 6-10) in his ENTIRE coaching career, all get fired for not winning ENOUGH?

      • Sassypants

Tony Dungy was fired because the Bucs were slathering over Gruden and wanted to get him before a team with a white savior complex could beat them to the punch. He was seen as a genius like Marty .

  • PriceIsRightHorns

We lost Ricky Harris too? I enjoyed him as Malvo on “Everybody Hates Chris.”

    • Zo Williams

Martin Lawrence ko’d Ricky Harris outside a comedy club years ago

      • cyanic

        That’s your remembrance? You’re a nice person!

        • GailyTheyRing,WhilePeopleSing

Something needs to make the troll happy.

    • Val

      First I’m hearing about this.

      • PriceIsRightHorns

Me too. It just came across my Twitter feed. Heart attack at 54.

        • Val

Dag. Why are celebs dropping in their 50s?

          • PriceIsRightHorns

      Awwwww. 2016!!!!!! RIP.

      • PriceIsRightHorns

        Real talk.

      • Val

        And don’t do drugs.

        • Mary Burrell

Carrie Fisher dodged a bullet she had a massive heart attack on an air plane flight.

          • Other_guy13

            Did she dodge it though?

        • Valerie

          Never!!!

          • Val

Lol I didn’t mean to aim that at you. I meant that a lot of these celebs had a history of drug abuse.

        • Other_guy13

Love is a drug so don’t do that

          • Val

            Wrong.

      • Other_guy13

I just wanna make it to 73….wrap me up in bubble wrap please and thank you

    • rikyrah

      2016 has been brutal.

      • PriceIsRightHorns

        Very much so.

        Indeed.

    • Mary Burrell

Oh i thought he looked familiar I couldn’t think of what it was I read it was a heart attack, and George Michael dying on Christmas as well.

      • PriceIsRightHorns

He’s been in stand up specials and bit parts in tv/film since the early 90s. He’s the guy that you see a lot, but his name may not register right away.

        • Kenton Campbell

” Snoop Doggy Dog? You need to get yourself a Jobby Job!”

          • PriceIsRightHorns

LOL. Yup. It’s a doggy dog world.

        • Mary Burrell

But when you said Malvo from Everybody Hates Chris it refreshed my memory. Very sad.

        • Also, he was the voice on all those West Coast Hip Hop record skits from 1988-1994.

          • PriceIsRightHorns

I remember some of those. Talented guy.

      • Nik White

        He was in This Christmas.

    • FarbissinaPunim

Damn! Just saw this. I swear this has been the worst year.

    • Sigma_Since 93

I was just watching Dope last night. How am I supposed to eat my poundcake now Ricky??? RIP

  • QueenRaven23

OAN: I’m trying to decide if I want to spend the $50 on ProBowl tickets…I’d only go for Justin Tucker

    • Val

      It’s in Hawaii?

      • QueenRaven23

        Here in Orlando

        • Val

That’s pretty cheap to see an NFL game, even if it is the Pro Bowl.

          • QueenRaven23

Yea. I like all of the sports stuff coming to Orlando but hate it…I have enough time to decide

          • Brother Mouzone

Yeah, its cheap because you’re not watching FOOTBALL. They’re seriously considering getting rid of it and doing a skills challenge.
