You know, the funny thing is a black man said that! I mean, struggle can mean all kinds of things, internal and external (Yin and Yang). Sometimes you have to go totally yang, so to speak. That’s what Frederick Douglass was trying to convey. Example, a boxer wouldn’t train for a fight by going into the gym throwing 5 punches and walking out, would he? Not unless he wants to get knocked slam out or die!!! There are much simpler ways to commit suicide. It’s like that in everything, for example, in Beijing, students start learning math at age 3 (counting, 2′s,3′s,backwards,etc.etc.). By age 8 the kids are doing pre-algebra; by age 15 they are the only sophomores in American math classes, everyone else is a senior! Math is worked on hardest at the ages when the brain takes in information and locks it down. It’s like that with everything. Reading, writing, languages, etc. They do the same thing with the kids in India. There is trained…and then there is taught. In America kids in public schools are taught, kids in inner city public schools are “taught” (more like shown), and kids in rich private schools are trained! In that case it is up to the black parents to get the appropriate time and tools to “drill” their kids before bedtime. Later, math software, online drills, and good old fashioned books, pencil, and paper will do the deal. Summers should not be SPENT w/ out daily drilling and work on what’s going to be done next year in school. Basically, for every 10 math problems at school, the black children should be doing 3000 at home total (including review) until it becomes second nature. As for college, parents should get that trust fund or college fund opened up. Wrestling at school and Judo all year round and your kid goes to college for free! Duh! Not everyone is going to be 6’4 or move like Barry Sanders! Teach your kids about “the money game” basically STOCK OR REAL ESTATE or you’ve lost your money, and more than you think you did! Book after book on economics, stock strategies, etc. since it’s the fastest way to achieve wealth in the United States. With software like Trade Ideas Pro it’s fairly easy. Come on people, let’s rock it Egyptian style! Logic, logic, and logical direction, with focus, professionalism, and integrity! Be the best and strive to be better than that!!!

Where as the dynamic duo leaves it open for discussion (or public flogging, depending on the level of flagrant misogyny), this doesn’t have any way for you to “choose your own adventure”.

What’s someone going to say,

“oh, you’re totally wrong, you ain’t ever had no P**job anyway”

There’s no controversy here at all.
There’s not even a prompt for “add your own experience here”.

All the reader can do is just nod in agreement and keep it moving.

It’s a great way for him to pilfer readers to go over to his blog, but it doesn’t foster discussion.

And that’s why, as nice as the analogy is, the post ultimately fails.

He should really study The Champ and Panama to understand what they actually do.
