I mean….the government is of course your AND my best friend, and Iīm sure they regulate EVERYTHING exactly to the standard as they are supposed to all the time.

Right? Well, no. Our government doesnīt even regulate the treatment of inmates in jails or children in foster care right all the time. You HONESTLY think they check up on the welfare of a lowly mouse or monkey as they should or say they do? Iīm sure some of them live quite nicely (if you call never seeing the sun nice, but whatever). There is also evidence of many that live through hell. Iīm sure you wonīt click the link below because itīll make you want to cry..or vomit. But hey:

http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=covance_30

Listen, Iīm a more moderate PETA gal, i really am. Medicine is important. I have Lupus. I get that. That doesnīt mean that I donīt want that little cat or mouse or macaque or cockroach to be properly anesthetized before a painful medical experiment. Thatīs how a lot of us feel at PETA. We wouldnīt be able to survive without testing, but we should certainly demand that people respect the creatures that lay down their lives so that we may live.

I think that when an organization (as nuts as we are) sometimes catches wrong being done and blows the whistle, demanding better conditions (which is what PETA Really does….they yell and scream for an end to factory farming, testing, etc. But they know itīll never happen, and instead rally for legislature to make conditions BETTER, not do away with it all together) is it reasonable for you to really HATE them? Like HATE them for real? I think standing up for mercy and demanding mercy of others is not worth hating someone for. Our investigations and protests are annoying, but they get results. HATE us? There are WAY more awful people to hate….I promise.

p.s. – being vegan made me lose 10 pounds and I poop twice a day. YAY!

By: aja

@Intellectual Hedonist,It was "I'm gonna get you sucka" cuz Jan Brady(rockin the braids n beads) was married to Link aka Clarence Williams and they had that lil blonde kid reading his essay about how the Man was keepin the black man down..lol

@Intellectual Hedonist,

It was “I’m gonna get you sucka” cuz Jan Brady(rockin the braids n beads) was married to Link aka Clarence Williams and they had that lil blonde kid reading his essay about how the Man was keepin the black man down..lol

By: GabbyTime

@BLUNTBLAZER, LMAO!

Iīm dating a Sephardic Jew from Israel (wiki that if need be, Iīm not explaining it…but Pharaoh gave them hell and theyīre the niggers of Jewry). Anyway, it works out cause neither one of us can eat shit when we go out. Iīm Vegan, he keeps Kosher. He calls pigs and shellfish “bottom-feeders,” I call them friends. He drives a BMW, I drive Stella McCartney vegan sandals onto the F Train. It all works out.

Plus heīs rich, so I donīt care if he eats a live piglet, buck naked, while singing Porgy and Bess tunes right in front of my face. Simply put, it is the study of how system outputs respond to inputs. When it comes to the human system, we want to understand how the inputs (desires/commands, senses) result in outputs (motor commands, etc).If we understand such systems, then we can design things to compensate and correct when one part is not working properly (Parkinson's, nerve damage, etc).Controls engineers have well established techniques for studying and characterizing systems. For example, there are "generic" system models that result in a certain type of behavior. So, when you are designing the control system of a car or the response of a wii, if we see a certain system has some behavior that matches a known model, that makes our job easier.The brain and human body is vastly more difficult. While there are certain behaviors and responses which at times fit models we already know, they do not generalize well. Or, the interactions between various systems are so complex, that we are still trying to figure it out.For example, let's imagine someone has nerve damage and can no longer control their arms. We can target neurons in areas that we suspect have dominant control over arm motion, take recordings in normal humans of them performing that motion, then apply control theory to give us a generalized model that if someone where to record stimulus and not tell us what the person was doing, we could figure it out.Then, all we'd have to do to cure the person is have a device that intercepts the electrical impulses in your brain and convert those to signals at your muscles. Except it turns out that we don't fully understand the brain yet. And perhaps it turns out that our model only works when people are sitting down and by sheer luck, we designed the experiments with everyone sitting down.As engineers, we follow Occam's razor (The simplest explanation is best). Primarily because it makes our work easier, but also because while we could eventually come up with an exceptionally complex model of some sensory-response system, in all likelihood there exists a much simpler response with high fidelity in 95% of the cases.So, the goal then is to iteratively apply control engineering techniques, starting with simple models and gradually increasing complexity. This in fact serves a couple purposes. When the simple models don't work, it suggests that we are oversimplifying some aspect of how the brain/sensorimotor system works. And so, the work of engineers in this regard not only finds better and better solutions to problems in this domain, we also advance the state of the art in terms of studying the human system and understanding structure, function, and how it all fits together.

@Ivy St.

Yes, controls.
