Second week means i get to watch the athletics portion of the olympics and of course all them nice toned thighs that come with the female sprinters.

    • Kas

      Yes sir

      • Val

        *dirty old men*

        • Kas

Guilty as charged. But not like you won’t be at the next barstool over doing the same thing.

          • Val

But it’s not dirty when I do it. :-)

            • Tambra

              Good clapback Val. Hi-5!

              • Kas

                Hi Tambra.

                • Tambra

Hey dear. Hope all is well. Are you despoiling perverting too? Don’t you know some things are sacred?

                  • Kas

Me perverting? No ma’am! Looks for pearls to clutch.

                    • Tambra

                      I believe you. ;)

            • Kas

              :)

            • Sigma_Since 93

              Yes it is :D

    • brothaskeeper

*pokes head up* diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid someone say female sprinters? *sets DVR*

    • TeeChantel

      Same but male sprinters ?

  • rikyrah

I love watching sports that you only pay attention to every 4 years.??

  • Val

For some prospective and to hold us over until the sprints really get going here is Jesse Owens exhibiting Black excellence in Hitler’s own stadium back at the 36 Olympics.

  • Speaking of throw backs…

    • Val

The question is when will a woman break her 100m record? It’s stood since 1988.

      • Kas

I’m not getting sucked into this.

        • NonyaB

Kas avoiding trouble? Suspicious in itself.

      • brothaskeeper

Not even if Usain Bolt reassigned himself.

        • miss t-lee

          sir…

        • NonyaB

LAWDT. Can’t you ack right fo’ once?

          • Tambra

There are somethings that are just impossible.

          • brothaskeeper

            Nevaaaaaaaaaaa!

      • PinkRose

Considering it’s an “artificial” record, probably never.

        • Val

          Any receipts?

          • PinkRose

No better “receipt” than an autopsy report.

            • Val

So you read it and it said that she was taking PEDs?

              • PinkRose

Lets cut the crap for once aaight, you know d amn well the autopsy report doesn’t read that way otherwise it would have been national news.

So try to draw a logical conclusion from Sigma’s comment. If you can…………………..

                • Val

So, as usual, you have no proof. Got it. Lol

                  • PinkRose

Or maybe I save the scientific proof demonstrations for my real scientific life where it really COUNTS?

Ya’ll kill me with that show proof s hit as if that would change your mind if you had it, ROTFL!!! Of course ANYTHING anti Black woman on VSB draws backlash like a m*tha!!

                    • Kas

Can we have one Friday night were nobody gets blocked on disqus?

                    • Tambra

                      You can block on disqus?

                    • PinkRose

Thank goodness you can, there’s a few commentors whose (dumb) a $$ comments I NEVER EVER see!!!

                    • Kas

                      Yes

                    • PinkRose

I’m done Kas fo’ reals, LOL!!!

                    • Kas

No you ain’t, so go on.

                    • Sigma_Since 93

The only way that folks would believe it is if she got popped while she was still running. It’s funny that a football player can die and the autopsy shows certain things that are consistent with steroid use and folks can go yup he probably was on the stuff. This logic does not apply to Flo Jo.

                    • PinkRose

And even if she had been caught, they would say it was a conspiracy! I thought for sure her sudden death from epilepsy which anabolic steroids are KNOWN to exacerbate, would have more than provided folks with proof. But I guess because my “circle” consists of mostly other Black Scientists and Physicians including some who were professional athletes that also ran track back in the day (hint, hint), the obvious is more than obvious to us.

                    • Kas

                      I see you still going.

                    • PinkRose

                      Of course, LOL!

                    • NonyaB

Uh, no. Like I said above, provide me with any kind of solid proof and I’d be good. I have no personal ties to the subject of discussion and no vested interest in the story. I also have no problem admitting I’m wrong in face of compelling evidence. In absence of proof an assumption of innocence is a reasonable stance and the idea that we’d ignore proof because she’s a BW is silly.

Anabolic steroids may exaggerate epilepsy but epilepsy can also worsen for a variety of other reasons and the question of effect is moot since steroids were never detected to begin with. You can insist on choosing to believe whatever but you cannot necessarily insist your choice is true. Without proof so you can’t expect others to automatically believe you or to accuse them of ulterior motive behind their disbelief.

                    • NonyaB

Nope. Provide me with any kind of solid proof and I’d be good. If testing/autopsy/retroactive WADA/similar had produced such, I’d revise my opinion. For one, I only looked up Flo-Jo’s story today, based on this thread and concluded accordingly, based on reported facts. The idea that we’d ignore proof because she’s a BW is silly. The bottom line is, there is no proof and assumption of innocence is a reasonable stance to take in light of that.

                    • Sigma_Since 93

You won’t find anything based upon what she was taking at the time; THAT is the whole reason why you do it. WADA only started doing retro active tests after the whole the cream / the clear situation.

As a former All American in track who has trained with Olympians and trained with folks who have doped and tested positive and some who doped and never got caught, it’s a known secret that Flo and King Carl were on something. I know too many folk that know things to turn a blind eye.

                    • NonyaB

LOL, they really call her hubby King Carl? I see where you’re coming from and you see my point too. Too bad nobody from that circle wants to drop some gems – seems any story to the contrary in this will ultimately remain fully unknowable.

                    • Sigma_Since 93

I was talking about Carl Lewis. Nobody from that circle will drop names since they are dirty too.

                    • Janelle Doe

People also denied Lance Armstrong was doping for years and years (and races and races)

        • NonyaB

Just read her wiki page – said she was tested all the time and passed all tests. The athletes who said she must be doping to have such good performance never brought proof and even the IOC’s medical commission head admitted that she was singled out for more frequent and rigorous testing because of rumours but they never found anything.

          • Sigma_Since 93

We had this discussion on another thread. The whole defense about receipts is faulty because Flo could have possibly been taking something that the tests of that time were not set up to detect.

Tim Montgomery and Marion Jones never tested negative either but both were taking the cream / the clear.

            • NonyaB

I agree with theoretical possibility but it is irksome that the suspicion around her didn’t have solid basis. And with all the advances, seems they’ve never identified any substance (trackable today but not then) that she could have used then. Plus, they keep samples and retroactively test them.
From what I read, I was reminded of things like how that idiot Italian gymnast and her “black skin” comment about Simone Biles. If the comment had been something about doping instead, then that’s how a cloud of suspicion would suddenly emerge without valid basis.

              • Sigma_Since 93

@disqus_QGKOTi1oX5:disqus I have a VERY good source that had a conversation with her husband years after her death. Her husband made reference to if she didn’t do “it” she may still be alive.

It would be interesting if they went back and had WADA test her sample using today’s technology.

                • PinkRose

Biased crowd man, BIASED crowd, LOL!!!

                • NonyaB

With the size of the cloud of suspicion around her, wouldn’t be surprised if WADA quietly did some retroactive tests at some point. And if her hubby isn’t officially dropping any smoking gun evidence, then I have to believe otherwise.

                  • Sigma_Since 93

Her hubby has noting to gain by soiling his wife’s name especially since she had more success than he did. It’s one of those things you chalk up to the game.

Back in the day, I could tell an athlete that wanted to cheat how to cheat and always test clean. It wasn’t that hard back in the day. You get your cycle in before the next random test or you run in a very low key event someplace where they are not testing and you do your thing.

            • Val

If you never test positive then you have no proof of anything. People speculate about Flo Jo but have absolutely no proof.

            • Kas

I’m sitting this one out. Good luck on this topic.

              • Sigma_Since 93

I love Flo Jo but I’m not scared. I know about that track life.

                • PinkRose

Word, I got the “clap back” down pat!

                • Kas

Once I realize everyone is going to believe what they are going to believe, I move on.

                  • PinkRose

                    Say waaaaahhhttttt, LOL????????

        • PinkRose
          • Brass Tacks

I would lick her from Biceps femoris to Gluteus Medius.

            • PinkRose

              Ya’ll so nasty, ROTFL!!!

              • Brass Tacks

You don’t even want to know how deep that rabbit hole goes, PRose.

As a youngin, Football and Track was life. I wasn’t the type of athlete that went for cheerleaders. If she had a fast sprint time tho… Lawd!

      • Some up and coming woman we haven’t seen yet.
Some high schooler we haven’t heard of.
        Lord, let her be black.

        • Val

Hopefully she is at least in college now. Lol I’m sick of waiting.

        • DontcallmePete

“Some high schooler we haven’t heard of.
          Lord, let her be black.”

That’s like praying for rain to be wet! When she comes she won’t be any other way.

    • TeeChantel

Helluva throwback. The prettiest to ever do it.

      • miss t-lee

        Loved some FloJo.

        • TeeChantel

          Me too

          • miss t-lee

            *daps*

          • Anitatstokes4

            <<fb. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????::::::!il445r:….,….

      • Ameliadcoker4

        <<ep. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????:::::::!!mt32v:….,….

    • Yes Lawd.

    • NonyaB

What kinda styling was going on in those days, though? Dem pants with loincloth girding, offleg, disco pank lycra is on another level.

      • miss t-lee

She designed her own running outfits. Them one legged fits became a trademark of sorts. Along with her nails.

        • NonyaB

Well dayum. She had interesting taste. Great muscling, tho.

          • miss t-lee
            • NonyaB

Well, alright now! Plus, those nails are serious and bonafide lethal weapon. I’m sure nobody tried to fight her. Poor Glenda in 3rd pic doing all she can to stay in the frame.

              • miss t-lee

                LOL!

                • Val

Remember Gail Devers and her fingernails?

                  • miss t-lee

                    Yup! I do.

          • PinkRose

She looked MUCH better with body fat/more curves.

            • NonyaB

I can see her still looking good with more curves but what’s impressive in this pic is how she looks curvy despite being super lean.

          • Kas

Her nails were insane as well.

            • NonyaB

Yes! Just saw them below in Miss T-Lee’s reply.

      • PinkRose

Don’t forget the “juice”, check out her pics from college for the winning, sexy, juice free Flo Jo.

        • Val

You have any proof of that?

          • PinkRose

My “proof” was discussed pretty exhaustively in previous thread.

        • NonyaB

Didn’t see this earlier but already responded to your “artificial record” comment below.

  • TeeChantel

I’m missing track and field tonight…..I’ll be recording it though.

  • Val

Wait, trampoline is an Olympic sport?

    • Val

What I’m jamming to while watching trampoline.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReI6gvzVP0Y

    • Still no baseball…

      • Tambra

        And cricket…

        • brothaskeeper

          And pole dancing.

          • Tambra

Good one! I bow to your superior taste!

            • brothaskeeper

              Brienne knows she wants it.

              • Tambra

From Jaime. She loves pretty boys.

                • Brass Tacks

                  Pretty boys need love too.

                  • Tambra

I am not denying it, but you gotta admit that rugged guys have a certain umph to them.

        • You know the Jamaicans can not wait.

          • Tambra

Yes we are waiting there humble brag soon. I feel sorry for you guys who are married to them.

            • Kas

We appreciate that. But there is no humble about their brag.

              • Tambra

                So true.

              • They do it right.

        • Val

People take their cricket very seriously. And that’s all I know about cricket.

          • Tambra

Uh huh. But it is lots of fun. With party stands and all.

          • Kas

My Trini friends can go on forever about it.

          • I’m West Indian and no nothing about cricket. I was down there last year and had English dudes son me on my own heritage.

            Assimilation. It’s FAN-tastic!

            • Tambra

England was touring. Good times. Look at ” Fire in Babylon”

              • I know. That’s been on my films to watch list for years. From the trailer, it looks like a beautiful movie.

                • Tambra

It is. And if you can get it ” Branded a Rebel” that would be cool too. You can look at that one on YouTube. But if you want to ease into cricket. I would suggest you start with T/20 matches.

                  • T/20 seems like the easy version, so I try to watch when I get a chance. Also, considering where I live, it’s not too hard to actually watch one in person on a lazy afternoon. I love the fielding. The fielding in that game is so clutch…

                    • Tambra

                      Beautiful catches… it’s a dream .

      • Val

I heard that was going to be at the next Olympics, no? And surfing which should be interesting.

  • brothaskeeper

I kinda miss the Dream Team. Olympic basketball is actually……competitive.

    • Our team need to gel really soon here.

      • brothaskeeper

The way they’re looking, I think either Spain or Australia will smack them in the mouth in medal play.

        • They could but they have a really big problem named Deandre Jordan.

        • Val

Looks like Lithuania is pretty good too.

        • I’d bet, but Australia would be a better matchup. Spain can’t match up against America wing players well.

          • Negro Libre

            Spain stinks this year.

    • The world did actually get better in the process. The Nigeria squad team USA blew out in 2012 probably would have medalled in 1992.

  • Negro Libre

The Current Team USA for basketball is overrated.

Don’t move the ball enough and take too many 3s.

    • Val

They are definitely not the Dream Team.

      • Well, nobody has ever been that much better than anybody.

        • brothaskeeper

11 out of 12 members of the Dream Team had played in an NBA finals series. This team: 5 players.

      • Negro Libre

They don’t need to be the Dream Team, they just need to play good offensive basketball.

        • Val

Looks like they need to play some D.

          • Negro Libre

            True.

But a lot of there bad offense is making it difficult for them to set their defense. The reason why the Spurs have always been a dominant team, even when their defense was mediocre is that their offense has always been efficient, so they’re always able to control the pace of the game.

        • That is Coach K. He is always with the Xs and Os and not letting the team run.

    • brothaskeeper

      Boogie just got JUKED!

      • Negro Libre

Ain’t no D in Boogie for real lol.

      • That’s a playground move.

    • tgtaggie

I was like how can y’all win by 3? Maybe they’re seasick by sleeping on that cruise ship. Or too many boat parties.

      Kyrie might’ve overdosed on beckys

  • Val

USA men’s basketball is on NBC Sports channel now. The score: USA 69 – Serbia 60 with the second quarter coming to a close.

    • My feed is the start of the 4th quarter.

      • Val

        Yeah, about 9:30 left, right.

        • Yeah. They are fouling like every possession.

          • Val

They better play hard they’re only up by 6.

            • I don’t know why Kyrie isn’t getting more play.

              • Val

Does that big bearded Serbian guy play in the NBA?

                • He was there. He was on bad teams and didn’t stick.

  • miss t-lee

    Let’s go.
